Coffee Hour Food Sign Up

Please remember to sign up for coffee hour food. This is an excellent time for us to experience hospitality among ourselves and with our guests. We need at least 3 households per Sunday with each providing food for approximately 40 people.

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the basement. As a reminder, we will publish the names of people signed up to bring food for the current week and the following week in the Community Voice.

Food Pantry Reminder

Please remember to bring your contributions for the Mary Rigg Food Pantry each Sunday. This is a concrete way for us to reach out to our neighbors. The Mary Rigg Community Center depends on donations to feed those in need from our neighborhood. Over the past four months there have been over 1000 MORE families who have come to the Community Center for help because they are out of work. With winter approaching, and an estimated 60% rise in fuel and energy costs, things will only get worse. Please remember the poor among us.

Temple Development & Beautification Fund

If you would like to make contributions to help purchase various items to beautify our worship space please earmark your tithe envelope.

AboutOrthodoxy

ParishMissionStatement

We desire to express the Orthodox faith through the worship of the Holy Trinity in the Eucharist and in the Sacramental LIfe of the church. As an intentional Orthodox community, we place our hope in the Resurrection. We desire to bear one another's burdens in the knowledge that God will transform us through our present sufferings into His image and likeness. Therefore, having experienced God's love, we desire to intentionally manifest this love to others through acceptance, compassion, benevolence, and hospitality, for the life of the world.

My Vision for St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Church

St John the Forerunner Orthodox Church is a Eucharistic, dynamic, growing force for Orthodox Christianity in Indianapolis, the Midwest, and the world.

We are an intergenerational community whose lives are being transformed by Grace and Beauty through our worship of the Blessed Holy Trinity; our Love for each other through authentic and joyful fellowship and accountability; and Communion with The Truth through study, discipleship and outreach.

We are faithful stewards of the ample resources of time, giftedness, and money given to us by our Heavenly Father by being mindful of the legacy of our past; by being awake to the opportunity offered to us in the present moment; and the possibility of realizing the hopes and dreams promised to us by God’s Providential Guidance for the future.
